Declan John

As promised, here are a few words, and lots of pictures, of Declan John.

From the day she found out we were having a baby, Monkey had been telling everyone the baby would be born on Valentine's Day.  I had told her it would be around Valentine's Day, as I needed some time frame to tell her. Turns out she was right.

We went to the hospital mid-morning on Wednesday, February 14th as I was showing the slightest signs of labor.  They hooked me up and monitored me for an hour or two. Our doctor was out of town, as is tradition when we have a baby, but the on call doctor was the nicest doctor we've yet to meet. After telling her how quick GMac entered the world, she told us if I showed any signs of progress she'd let me stay.  So I walked the halls for an hour (which goes surprisingly quicker than you'd think), dilated a bit more, and was admitted around 2:00 p.m.  I tested positive for Strep B so that set up back bit, but once I had my two rounds of antibiotics we were ready to break my water and move things along.  I had an epidural (the best inventions ever) and watched the Olympics while pushing Declan into this world at 11:03 p.m. He's our standard issue Elsea boy weighing in at 8 pounds and measuring 20.25 inches long (almost identical to his brother).  We all, especially GMac, love him something fierce.
