I know what you're thinking, "She said she was going to put the blog on the back burner, yet we've had posts everyday." But don't expect anything tomorrow. As of now I have nothing planned.
First of all, I think I could very easily become addicted to gambling (or anything else for that matter). With the Power Ball at $579 million dollars yesterday. I rushed out the door at 9:30 last night to go get three tickets (one for me, one for C, and one for Monkey). I should point out I have never purchased lottery tickets before and had to have my brother walk me through it before hand so I didn't look like an idiot. And while I was there I picked up 5 $1 Holiday scratch offs. The adrenaline was coursing through my veins. By the time we got home (and it was a bit longer trip because we couldn't go to the closest gas station - just a block away* - because I am pretty sure it was robbed - way to NOT cover that story EG!) I had decided what I would do with my winnings...
Buy the recipe to Ho Hos.
Emily said it was a brilliant way to spend my lottery winnings.
I also promised 5% of my pre-tax winnings to Drew and Mark (and maybe Emily). I was also worried about how I would get in touch with Hostess to let them know I was interested in that recipe (and only that recipe, I don't like Twinkies). But by 11:03 I was a loser. Sorry folks, no Ho Hos for us.
But it was the best hour and a half of my life. And I did win $2 on the scratch offs (not quite the $500 Drew one a few Christmas' ago). I did wait to scratch them off until I got home because I didn't want to act too excited in the store. I also had to promise C I wouldn't buy any more. HOWEVER, I think I can buy two more with my winnings and, what's the phrase, "ride them out"(?).
In homeowner news I'd like to try this. A $55 fix to a black dishwasher that would allow me to replace my stove first (gotta have that dream kitchen and a stove that will hold more than one large pan - hosting Christmas dinner this year will be interesting). Has anyone tried this before? We have a stainless fridge and C is worried that they wouldn't match.
I have just four days of work left. Maybe I should work for UPS.
What can Brown do for you?
I'm starting to pack up my office. I'm planning on staging one of the boxes I have to take home to look just like they do in the movies when they leave their job.
Now I need to go turn in my two $1 scratch offs for two more. Wish me luck!
*I promise we live on a nice, pretty safe block.
