I burnt the bacon

This past weekend I burnt my first ever side dish (or meal for that matter).  More on that later.

Friday night C decided to work late so I decided to watch lots and lots of t.v. Specifically, The Big Bang Theory. If you haven't seen the show and have a sense of humor like mine (not C's because he doesn't think it's quite as funny as I do) then it's a must. If you know lots and lots of Star Wars and Star Trek stuff then you'd like it to. I'm not as well versed in that area, but C lets me know why those lines are funny. I like the show for the nerdy OCD characters. I tried my hardest to stay up for the Indians game, but fell asleep by 11:30.  What is wrong with me? I'm 25 years old. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to be able to stay up past 11:30.  C got home muy late (11:30) as I was headed to bed.  He decided to watch Public Enemies and stay up way past my bed time. I'm glad I wasn't invited to the movie watching party anyway as I've never seen a movie with so much shooting and didn't appreciate the girl peeing her pants.

I woke up Saturday morning with the overwhelming urge to do something nice for C. I decided to make him chocolate chip pancakes. As is always the case, we didn't have all of the ingredients (well, we did, but we didn't have enough milk for the pancakes and for C to drink a glass with his breakfast) so I ran to the store. Around 10:00 I was ready to start and had put the bacon in the oven. This is the best way to cook bacon as it comes out crispy and doesn't smell up the entire house (and your hair).  While the bacon cooked I showed C a funny episode of The Big Bang Theory in which Sheldon is gifted an autographed, used napkin from Leonard Nimroy. Last time I baked bacon it took forever so I figured I was fine until the show was over.

Turns out I wasn't.

After 3 years, 4 months, and 8 days of marriage, I managed to burn my first dish. I look at it as an accomplishment, really. It appears the one downside to baking your bacon is that you can't smell it when it's burning. You also can't start a grease fire as easily, so I'll take it.

So at 11:00 I had defrosted more bacon and put it in the oven. The new goal was to have breakfast brunch lunch done by Mark's scrimmage at 1:00. We managed to beat our goal (with perfectly cooked bacon this time) and enjoyed fluffier than normal pancakes (I think it was the milk to pancake mix ratio).

I then went to Mark's scrimmage and took some pictures of the horses who decided to also watch the game.

Afterwards my Mom and I went to the local used clothing store where I score a new jacket that was in perfect condition. We also go my sister her first Lilly Pulitzer dress.  I'm still trying to find the "Lilly" in the pattern.

Later that afternoon C and I watched the Kentucky Derby and looked for Mama and Papa E. (no luck). I was fascinated by the fascinators and told C I would chose a fascinator or a baseball cap if I ever went. Then I decided I would never go because I can't stand to see animals injured. Even if they are horses.

After the derby we went to see Something Borrowed. Let me rephrase that, I watched Something Borrowed while C counted the 127.5 ceiling tiles.  Yes, the movie was that bad. Which probably explains why I have owned the book for at least 5 years and have never been able to get into the story. We debated even going in the first place, but went because we love John Krasinkski.  At one point I looked over at C and thought he was getting sick.  Turns out he was just not enjoying the movie that much.

Sunday afternoon we went to my parents house for a Mother's Day cookout.

The way dad loaded up his plate we think he may have confused it as Father's Day.

I kid.

We also made some poop which I unfortunately did not remember to take a picture of, looked for mom's driver's license, talked to Mama E., and decide that the boys would make a corn hole set before Wednesday morning.

We'll see how that one goes.

It was 227.5. 238 if you count the non-ceiling-piece parts (such as vents, lights, etc.). Just FYI.
