Chocolate Filled Crescent Rolls

In my sheer boredom last night I decided to try my hand at making homemade chocolate filled crescent rolls. And by "homemade" I mean placing chocolate into store bought crescent dough and baking it. I was unsure of the outcome at first, but C was won over. Which is good because I only ate half of one due to the richness. And the best part about this recipe? You get 8 chocolate crescent rolls for the price of one Panera chocolate crescent rolls.

Chocolate Filled Crescent Rolls

Now that your mouth is watering (unless you have some weird hatred for chocolate) let's get started....

What you'll need:
One package of crescent rolls
Some chocolate squares. (Hershey minis or just a Hershey bar, I found one from last Christmas that seemed to work well)
And you'll possibly need a 1/2 cup chocolate chips (if you don't have enough of the other chocolate left over.
1 egg white + 1 Tbs water
A few pinches of sugar

Place the chocolate on the widest end of the crescent roll.

And roll.

If you're not like me and do have an egg on hand, beat an egg white with 1 Tbs water and brush over rolled crescents. Then sprinkle with some sugar. (If you are like me and don't have an egg on hand and also don't know your neighbors well enough, just sprinkle the sugar on without the egg)

Bake in a 350 degree oven for roughly 15 minutes. Melt the chocolate chips and pour into a Ziploc bag. Snip the teeniest part off one of the corners and drizzle over the hot crescent rolls.

Enjoy with a large glass of milk.

I showed my co-workers this and they were all impressed!

Would semi-sweet chocolate (as in your average chocolate chips) taste just as yummy?

I actually used semi-sweet chocolate chips for the drizzle and they worked fine. It's your call on putting them in the crescent rolls.
