how to build a cornhole set

Flash back to last Sunday night.  Drew and C decide to build a cornhole set. It was too late to start that evening (because Lowe's closes early on Sunday) so they pushed it back to Monday night giving them two nights to complete the project.

My mom and I took (almost) step by step pictures in case you too want to make your own set.

Day One

Step 1 - Not Pictured - Go to Lowe's and have them pre-cut all of your wood.  It's so much easier this way. Especially when you don't have three-quarters of the tools to make the set in the first place.

Step 2 - While looking busy on your makeshift saw horses send your brother to Kroger to get a compass.

Step 3 - Not Pictured - Pre-drill the holes to attach the plywood to the 2x4 contraption you made. Notice you don't have any wood glue. Send your sister and brother to Kroger for wood glue and ice cream.

Step 4 - Read wood glue instructions.

Day Two

Step 5 - While the boys are doing who knows what (which is now known as breaking the one saw blade they had), carefully measure out 15.5 ounces of feed corn. Be sure to use your calibrated Weight Watchers scale. This is also a good time to receive text messages.

Step 6 - Sew corn hole bags while Drew gets a new blade for the saw. Make sure to break you blade 15 minutes before Menards (located on the other side of town) closes.

Step 7 - Discuss the angels you are about to cut using the incorrect saw, but only saw you have.

Step 8 - Look at the computer printed instructions just to make sure you have the angels right for the legs.

Step 9 - In the dark of night, making sure to use the incorrect saw, saw the pre-drawn rounded edges for the legs.

Step 10 - Use wood putty to fill in the bad spots. Drew will then tell you you shouldn't have done that yet. (But still, didn't I do a great job?)

Step 11 -  Make sure the rounded legs are roughly the same shape.

Step 12 - Have your very trusting wife hold the leg while you sand the edges smooth.

Step 13 - Read the instructions one more time. Note: the reading will make you very sweaty.

Step 14 - Drill the holes to secure the legs one inch from where they really should be.

Step 15 - Not Pictured - Send wife home to pack for beach trip and somehow finish project without her.

When all 15 steps are completed you'll have your very own cornhole set!

Starting June 1st we'll  be taking orders. Get your order in soon!
